Evidence in the Chinese immigration inquiry at Vancouver disclosed tho existence of a smuggling ring of opium-sellers, in which many prominent subscribers to the Anti-Opium League were involved. Huge profits were made. One party of Chinese, learning that another party was landing a big consignment of opium, personated detectives and captured all tho booty. Vancouver was used as a centro to supply tho chief Canadian cities.
