REPLIES TO HIS CRITICS. . By Telegraph—Press Aseociation-Oonyrlgbt (Rec. Jan.' 23, 9.10 p.m.) Sydney, January 23. Mr. Foster Fraser, in a letter to the ''Sunday Sun" dealing with.the Australian reviews of his book on Australia, says that, drawing a general impression from the lot, the conscious verdict is, "You. are a libeller." He claim sthat whatovcr the comments he made,, there was a warm-hearted affection for tho land and people behind his pen.

■ It was said that his facts were wrong. This may be, but he got them from Government publications, Government officials, and Australian newspapers.

. Mr. Fraser concludes: "I cannot' say any more than that I used my pen as I. hoped for the advantage of your country."

: In his letter Mr. Fraser also mentions that after a well-known Australian had read his manuscript he sent the first half to Sir George Reid, High Commissioner .for Australia, who suggested a number of corrections. Mr. Fraser pointed but that some of these conflicted with matter' culled from- Government books. Sir George Reid, he eays, in a huff returned the rest of the manuscript,.saying that he would take no responsibility for the book. •
