MR. PAUL MORTON. By Telegraph—Press Association-Copyright. New York, January 20. The death occurred in the hallway of Bi New York hotel, from cerebral hemorrhage, of Mr, Paul Morton, who was secretary of the Navy in.the. Cabinet of ■»ir. 'Roosevelt from 1904 to 1905. ' A VETERAN MISSIONARY. Sydney, January 21. The 'Rev. Albert Pearse, a veteran South. Sea Islands missionary, is dead. At'the'Opera House last evening, Mr. SV. 'Fritoh lectured on "Tolstoy" before a fairly large audience. Mr. W. M. o.l'Le'an presided. The lecture was in the main a biographical sketch of Tqietoy's life, and a brief presentation of , the leading principles enunciated by the jreat Russian as ho passed from one jhtUe of life to another. Mr. Fritch pictured the developing changes of Tolstoy's Social and religious creed in simple terms,.introducing now and then an effective , illustration. There was a fair attendance of adherents of the local Labour-party in the Conceit Chamber of the Town Hall last ivening to hear an address by Mr. John Sodfce, M.p. for the Gorton Division of on "The Progress of the Labour Movement in' Great Britain." The meeting was held the auspices of the SVellington Trades Council, the presi-dent-of which body (Mr. E. J, Carey) ocjpied the chair,
