BIG SHOWING. EXPECTED AT ma'steeton. - . , At. time in the history of the North Island 'has there been so keen a demand, among pastoralists, for the.Eomney jlarsh "breed of sheep as at the' present. The .demand, in fact, is-greater than the supply. The reasons which have induced this demand need not. be discussed, so many and varied are they. Naturally the breeder is looking about for that .type of sheep which combines condition with the wool-producing' qualities. . In; this-connection', , the forthcoming shavin Masterton, to be.held on'Feb'ruary 14 and 15, will afford possibly the best, opportunity yet' presented in the Dominion of Comparing the various types and ■judging-as to quality. Some of the finest stud sheep penned this side of the Line ■are. likely to be 011 exhibition. A silver cup, valued- at twenty-five guineas, has b?en offered by- Messrs. W. and. H. Beetham, of. Brancepeth, for the best pen of four Homney rams under twenty-one m.onths. This has to be won three times in. succession, nud is at present in the bands of Mr. W. Perry. In. addition to this trophy, a silver salver, valued at twenty guineas, is offered 'by Mr. W. Perry for the best, Romney ram under twenty-one months, and the 1 Eomney. Marsh Sheep Breeders' Association offer a shield for the champion ram and ewe respectively. There are ten classes in all open to competition. Entries close oil ■Saturday, January. 28.
