DIED IN ITS PERAMBULATOR. .A CHILD'S NOURISHMENT. (By Telegraph-Press Association.) Christchurch, January 15. ■ Frederick Ernest' Stride,, a clijld of three months old, was. found dead by its mother this morning, in the perambulator, in which it was sleeping. The evidence of the mother of tho child was to the effect that it was weak- from its birth.- It had been fed on the breast, but had also been given oatina. The medical evidence was to the • effect that the. child had Seen badly .nourished.. It was suffering from nneumonia. Death was due to heart failure, accelerated by pneumonia and pressure, of,; a distended stomach. The coroner, in' recording a verdict accordingly, commented strongly on the manner in which the child hau been fed, and said that it had not had a chance. •MARTON RAILWAY FATALITY. Fielding a ball, Mr. Hanify turned round sharply and managed somehow to break his leg, six inches above tho ankle, and also to dislocate tho ankle. Dr. M'Ev-edy, who was playing in the match attended to the injury, and 31r. Hanify was afterwards conveyed to his home'in Karori' Road. Mr. Hanify. is by occupation a surveyor and civil engineer.
