Charles Eden,, who recently had a horse, valued at .£BO, killed on the railway line, w«s charged with allowing the animal to trespass, and was fined .£l. For supplying a .Native woman with liquor, Eobert.. Kilminster was filled ,£5, and costs 12s. There was no anpearaneo of defendant. A similar charge against a man named Tudor was withdrawn. A Chinese named Sing was fined J!o for halving opium /in his possession, and ,£1 for smoking same, while Lee, tho occupier of the cottage, was fined ,£5 for permitting tho smoking. • Costs amounting to Its. and 7s. respectively were added. Half a dozen civil cases were also dealt with. . Major Addington has purchased a portion of tho l'ahiko Estate, near To Iloro, and will shortly liuild and take up'residence there. Mr..Jlildreth, of Hastings', has arrived to take up residence at Manakau, lie ..having, purchased Mrs. Shaw's property.'
