THE MASTERTON SHOW.
LINCOLN SHEEP. The autumn shows held in Masterton during, recent years havo been remarkable for tho koen competition in the various breeds of sheep, particularly in llomneys and Lincolns, and tho coming show, to bo held on tho new grounds, ,at Solway, on February 14 "J'd;. 10, promises to bo 110 exception. 1 avihons havo .been •■provided .for tho better exhibits of sheep, and the exhibits, thanks to the co-operation of tho Railway Department, will bo delivered right on tho show grounds. In tho Lincoln! breed of sheep, the competition between Wairarapa, Hawkc's Day, and West Coast brocclors is always keen. The programme this year comprises fourteen different classes for Lincolns. A sterling silver. cup, valued at twenty guineas, has been offered by the proprietors of Lawes' Chemical Company, Lt,d., for tho best ram, under 21 months. The oup is to bo won thrco times, but uot necessarily in succession, before it becomes private property. Last year's winner was Mr. William Perry, of Penrose, and, if reports be correct, Hawke's.' Bay .breeders and others will this year make a good effort to get ft "leg In." Apart from the cup, gold and silver medals are being offered for tho champion ram-and owe'respectively.
