$ — (From Our SDecial Correspondent.! • Pal-norston, January 13. The monthly meeting of the Palmerston Hospital and Charitablo Aid Board was held yesterday, Air. J. G. Wilson (chairman) presiding. Among the correspondent* was a letter from Sereean., Bovvden, of Feildir.g, explaining why so much charitablo aid liaci been, dispensed in that town. The chairman suggested that the charitablo aid should bo administered from Palmerston, but Counciilor Harford (Feilding) objected to this,' and'no action was taken. The treasurer's report stated that the finances were in a very 'satisfactory condition. The following 'donations were acknowledged Dalgety and Co., £5, being proceeds of a bull donated by Mr. R. A. M'Kenzie; Mr. H. S. M'Kellar, £2; and ehequo for £oS 10s. from the Mayor of Palmerston, on account of tho Hospital Day collections. The name of Miss Ella F. Grant was added'to the probationer's list. - A considerable amount of discussion took placo on the proposal to raise £3000 for tho purchase of radium for use in t-he hospital. Eventually it was decided to hold the matter over until Dr. JMartin had obtained more information from various sources.

The. Palmerston Tennis Club has decided, to hold it annual tournament on February 17 and 18, for which the president and secretary, Messrs. W. Lockhart, Fitzherbert, and J. T. Pickett have been deputed to draw up a programme. • The books composing the old Firo Brigade's library are to be sold, and the proceeds devoted, to All Saints' Children's Home. The combined Dairy Show and Ground Committees of the Manawatu A. and IJ.1 J . Association met yesterday 'afternoon, Major Dunk in the chair, to further consider the question of tlio erection of more building accommodation for the nest Dairy Show.
