IMPORTANT BY-LAWS.
LODGING-HOUSE REGULATION. " ; A number of important . by-lawd which have been in the course of preparation for some time past wore considered at a special meeting of the By-laws Committer of the City Council yesterday afternoon, the intention •being to bring : them into line before presenting them to the council for continuation. Partly owing to. the city solicitor being away on leave, some of the by-laws which were before the committee. arc'being sent back. The most important' by-lajv of the batch, that' dealing with lodginghouses, will be considerably remodelled, the intention of the committee being to have a bylaw drafted by' the city solicitor aud the engineer which will be as simple as possible, and clipped of extraneous detail. The desire is to bring tho bylaw forward in a form which, will allow of its being posted up in lodginghouses, to which it will apply. The idea is that the notice shall bo terse, definite, and convincing to tho people to whom it will apply. I" t-ho case of all tho bylaws considered it is the intention of • the committee to make them as simpl« as possible, but definite.
