FESTIVAL OF EMPIRE.
ELABORATE PAGEANT PLANNED.

London, January 12. The committee which is arranging the Festival of Empire entertained the Lord Mayor of London (Sir T. Yesey Strong) and Mayors of other municipalities at luncheon.
Mr! Frank Laseelles, who is to be master of ceremonies for the festival, stated that a quarter of a niillion pounds would be spent in order to make a worthy display. Canada was laying out seventy thousand pounds. Lord Dcsborough (who was head of tho executive of the Olympic sports) was'arranging an Imperial sports pageant, which, would include Australia and New' Zealand scenes: Mr. Laseelles said he honed tho majority of the performers would be from overseas- Already twelve thousand actors had been enrolled.
