In the Foreign Office debate in tho Chamber of Deputies 11. Pichon, 1 Minister for Foreign Affairs, declared that tho understanding with Great Britain was never closer. There was not a single question on which the two countries were not in completo. accord. Both wero striving to mako pacific situations prevail. Nothing had occurred in Europe to modify French alliances and' tho friendship and entente with England would continue under King George as under King Edward whoso memory would ever bo dear to France. Tho Bagdad railway pourparlers ' at, Potsdam, said M. Pichon, wero tho sequel to negotiations which had heon in progress since 1907. Tho Minister added that tho German Chancellor, Herr von Bothmann Hollweg had summed up tho result as a declaration that Germany and Russia would not enter into a combination conceived in a spirit of aggression against other Powers.
