At- Chopwell, near Newcastle-on-Tyno, a curious striko of school children occurred. Glycerine, which has been becoming increasingly dear for some time, has "now reached the highest price 011 record, says an English paper. Tho increase is due to the scarcity of fat and oils, and tho demand for glycerino in tho manufacture of high explosives, which aro used' in onormous quantities'in the construction of tho Panama Canal and other great engineering undertakings.
