FEILDINO NOTES.
As a -means of raising much-needed funds for the Horticultural Society, it has been (jecided to hold ,a floral fete at Fcilding oh February 1. Trembath and M'Lachlan, the crack runners, have riominated' for the sprint oveuts at the Feilding 'Athletic Club's meeting next Wednesday. I The-local Beautifying' Society, proposo to carry out some'tree-planting 1 along tho Ivimbol'tori Road.'
' Mr. F. Bismark, a Beaconsfield settler, has had -to go into the -Palmei-ston Hospital owing to ari injury to his knee. At Makino, Colyton, and Aorangi, nightprowlers havo been cutting bail ropes and sh-aps on dairy farms, and doing other damage of which farmers aro complaining. Rewards are offered by the Makino anil. Aorangi farmers for information which .may lead" to proceedings.
' Owing to the continued dry weather, the pastures'-and country in general are beginning to look rather parched. Tho Waituna Stream-has ..run dry twice this season—an event which has not occurred for sonic years past. The rain, which fell, on Monday morning,' was very welcome, but the farmers would havo been pleased to see it continue a little longer. . In our country districts most of tho haymaking is over now. Somo of tho crops have been rather lighter than usual., Tho supply of milk at tho Beaconsfield creamery is now decreasing, bnt the majority of the tests aro going up.
