The question of the weekly half-holiday was discussed at the last meeting of the Grocers' Union, and the feeling was in favour of observing it on. Saturday. It was decided to write to the Trades Council, requesting that body to take in hand the matter of organising a petition so as to obtain a poll on tho issue. The secretary (Mr. E. J. Carey) states that, roughly, 1000 signatures would be required to make tho petition effective, and this would mean a great deal of wm-k. A sum of .£2 was voted by,'the union towards the expenses which the Trades Council is likely to incur if it takes tho matter up.

Renault's and Crossley's, with- similar eauipment, arriving in a few days.
