The Prime Minister (Mr. Fisher), in bis cable to Sir "Wilfrid Laurier, Prime Minister of Canada, with reference to the Vancouver service, asked whether, assuming that Canada had closed/with the •Union Company for . a Vancouver service to New .Zealand, Sir Wilfrjd will consent to inviting tenders for an Australian service. 1 ' ■ • Mr. Fisher, is determined that the call at Brisbane must bo continued, and as this appears, apart from other considerations, to conflict with a call at Auckland, there is a likelihood, if Canada should agree to tho proposal, to .fresli tenders being called. ' •
