DR. CLEARY'S HOME-COMING.
THE AUCKLAND WELCOME,
(By TelecraDh.—Press Association.) - Auckland, January 11. The new Roman' Catholio . Bishop- of Auckland, the Eight'Eev. H W. Cleary, D.D., arrived at Auckland Railway Station'at 2.30 this afternoon. He was met by \rclibishop Ecdwood and other distinguished clergy from various ports of New Zealand, and was.welcomed-also by the officers of the Hibernian Society, and by i fairly large crowd of his pansmon-, ers, and the clergy of the diocese. -Bishop Cleary was escorted to-his house by a large following. 'He.-spent-the part of the day at'the-Presbytery at Otahuhu, suiting the convenience of the Eecephoa. Committee by'delaying-his arrival Auckland unlil this afternoon. f There was a very large congregation at St. Patrick's Cathedral the new Bishop was foi'many enthrcnjl by Archbishop Redwood. Several addresses of welcome were presented and nurses aggregating 600 sovs. from clergy and laity. Monsignor'Mackay, representing ■ tho Dunedin Diocese, handed Dr. Cleary a handsome chalice as a token of regard, from the Catholics there.
