Entries for the Ekctahuna Farmers' Union Show close on Saturday next. Late entries will be received ny to Wednesday, January 18, on payment of Is. fine on each entry. The secretary states that entries are coming iii freely, and that a record show is expected.
The Taitapu (Canterbury) \ orchards have suffered severely this summer from the high gales that have been experienced. On all sides trees that gave promise of an': abundant crop have been stripped of their • fruit, and even the leaves have been torn away, leaving the branches bared and broken.
