Mr: P;- Hally is. presiding, and tho assessors are: Messrs.-;H.- G. WarWli-(Nelson Bros.),' G. R. 'Croll (Borthwick"' and Sons), Norman White (N.drth British), for the-employers,- and .Messrs. W'. Stockholm,'E. O'Malley, and Thomas Merson,-for the employees" . ■The following-proposals were submitted by,the employers:—(l) Ordinary hours of work : not to exceed .eight.hours, and.Overtime, to be paid at the rate of time, lid, a: quarter. (2) ■In -the departments where employers, can so 'arrange, work shall, cease at 1. p.m.-on Saturdays, and the ; men in these departments may work 8J hours on five davs a week. - (3) The etarting: timo. shall. be regulated to meet the'.requirements, of the employers. (4) Men' working .shifts • shall be paid ordinary -rates. No longer a period than .five ,hours shall be worked between-meals, except in cases, of finishing on Saturdays, when an extra thirty minutes .shall be allowed. ■ . > - . . ■ The r court is still sitting. The press 5s not admitted,.but the result, it ha' been, promised, will be given. After considerable discussion, an amicable arrangement was reached, and a schedule of hours and wages was drawn up for signature of the parties concerned.
