PALMERSTON DAY BY DAY.
(By Telegraph.—Special Corrcsnondcnt.l Palmerston N., January 9. Olio more of l'alinerston's old settlers passed away yesterday in the person of - -Mrs. Jas. Jamieson, who- has been ailing for some months. The deceased lady has - been a resident of Palmerston for some thirty years, and. was, greatly esteemed by everyone who ltnew her. Tho lato Sirs. Janiieson was.a very, aotivo member of tho Methodist"Church, as also in any ■ charitable' movements. Sho leaves iv husband and' a family of four daughters and two sons to mourn their loss. At the Police Court to-day James M'Lean, of l'eildiug, was brought up on a .chargo of obtaining .£•! on a valueless cheriue and was remanded to I'eilding. John Singleton pleaded guilty to an act of indecency and was fined ila with • the alternative of a month's imprisonment. . The funeral of tho late Mr. William Waugh, one of our earliest settlers, which took place yesterday afternoon, \(as very largely attended.
