THE CHAMPIONSHIP. WON BY ICELBURNE PLAYERS. Tho tournament of the Wellington Bowling Centre ' concluded yesterday afternoon, when' the Kelburne rink, skippsd by / Williamson, received tho champioiisliip, beating Webb's team (Wellington) by 23 to 16. The game, which was played on the Wellington green, was r.'atched by a large number of bowlers and their 'friends. Williamson played a brilliant 'game, and completely ontgeuernlled Webb. H. F. Allen, tho leader of tho Wellington rink, played a good game, and Veitch also played very well, but Thompson was not up to his usual form. Oil- tho winning side the pla.V of M'Coli (second) was particularly .noticeable. He has tho makings of a brilliant skip in the future. Tho other members of tho champion riulc were Hamerton (leader) and Duguid. Webb missed several chances to score, notably iii tho nineteenth head, where he should have got in a 6. Had he done'so, it would have put his rink ahead of their opponents. Mr. E. J. Hill, delegate -to the ccntre (in tho absence of . tho president, Ml'. "W» J. Htiestoil), presented the oak championship shield to Williamson, and' Captain' Gisborne's trophy (a handsome rose bowl) to. Webb, as the skip of the' rmk which •' secured. the highest aggregate. Both players suitably responded. Eulogistic references wero mado by all the. speakers 'to the able manner in which tho tourney had been organised and conducted by the secretary, and the admirable methods employed by him. Mr. Churchward fitly acknowledged these' compliments. Cheers were given for Williamson, Webb,' and the secretary.

The competitors will include two Wellington rinks—one skipped by. Ballinger, and tho other 'consisting of King, Voitch, Thompson, and. Webb (s.). .Other bowlefs going from- Wellington are Colonel Collins, ex-president of the association; Mr. A. J. Keith, vice-presi-dent; and Mr. J. Roberts, acting-secre-tary. In the full rink match there will be 98 teams competing, divided into twelve eections of eight teams and one of ten. The • Auckland, Carlton,. Devonport, Remuera, Ponsonby, : Epsom, and OttEhunga'groens have been commissioned for the. section play in the Pennant competition. • , The pairs match, which is to start on the Thursday, will be divided into'-24 sections, each section comprising 6ix pairs, which means that, 288 players will be trundling bowls during, the pro-' gress of this competition. - The champion pairs match-will occupy ten greens, Grey Lynn, Mount Eden, and Rocky Noolf, in addition! to those previously mentioned. .
