BRITISH CRISIS.
COMPROMISE URGED. "TIMES" SAYS DIVISION TOO EVEN FOR COERCION. A CASE FOR SETTLEMENT. By TclcEraph—Press Association—corrricht (Rec. January 3, 0.25 a.m.) London, January 2. "Tho Times," in a strenuous article, states that if ever there was a case for settlement by consent it is in connection with tho'present political crisis. Everyone can see it except a small number of violent politicians. Our self-governing Dominions and foreign observers alike see it with extraordinary unanimity. The issue is too serious, and tho nation too evenly divided for tho coercion of the slightly smaller by the slightly larger half. CAUTION ADVISED. THE "STANDARD'S" VIEWS. (Rec. January 3, 0.25 a.m.) London, January 2. The "Standard/ referring to t,he constitutional question, emphasises the splendour of tho Conoration year ,and the' farreaching importance of tho Imperial Conference, and declares that Ministers will •be well advised if they gauge , the intensity of the national sentiment and abstain from any action or omission calculated to mar the prospect. .
