He is :to return to Wellington un January G, and will visit Invercai'gill during- the' week commencing January IG, and New Plymouth on January 2G. | The Prime Minister (Sir J. G. Ward), wlio has boon on a holiday visit to Rotorua and Auckland, returned to.'Wellington yesterday. Hciwill leave for Invercargill by the. Maori this evening, and will spend New Year in his electorate. On Monday next the Prime Minister will attend a sports meeting at Invercargill, and ■on Tuesday he will Be . present, at the regatta at the Bluff. Sir Joseph Ward will probably be baok in Wellington towards the end of next week.
The Hon. G. C. Wado, Leader of tho Opposition in New South Wales, left with his two sons for Lyttelton, last evening. They will tour the Cold Lakes, and return to Wellington, en route for Sydney, about three hveeks hence.

' He disembarked at Hobart to proceed to Melbourne, and he will immediately make a tour of the Russian Consulates in Australia and the Islands, afterwards visiting New Zealand. -
Amongst" visitors staying at the Boyal Oak is Mr. Stanley Diudams, manager of tho Bank of New South. Wales at Chiltern, Victoria. Mr. Diddaras was for some years ono of Victoria's most' brilliant tennis players who, when in partnership with Mr. Dunlop ■ (a' New Zealander) won tlio doubles, four years in succession against New .South Wales, and by so doing became the filial holders of tho challenge shield for this inter-State competition, presented by Lady Clarke, of Melbourne. . Mr. and Mrs. Diddams noso spending , a few weeks in New and, visiting relatives before returning to Australia. Tho funeral of the late Mr. Arthur George Millward, of the Railway Department, took place yesterday morning, the interment being in the Bolton Street Cemetery. Before the cortege started a short service, conducted by Archdeacon Harper, was held in St'. Peter's Church., Mr." Millward Anderson, nephew of deceased, played his unclc's favourite hymns prior to the servico and the Dead March in "Saul" as the mourners left the Church. The chief mourners were Messrs. W. H. Millward, Charles Millward, and Frederick Millward (brothers); Messrs. Edward Anderson, Tlios. F. Martin, and Eobt. Wilberfoss (brothers-in-law); and seven nephews. . ■ Mr. Hugo Gorlitz, who has been visiting Auckland on business connected with the approaching tour of tho Sheffield Choir, passed through Wellington yesterday on roiito to Dmiedin. Arrangements hail been mado for the Choir to appear in tho Agricultural Hall, but as that building has been destroyed by fire another hall will have to bo secured. Mr. 51. Herbert, of Eketahuna, who was in Masterton yesterday, stated that in all probability. he will contest the' Masterton seat at tho nest general election in the Opposition interest,
