' -' This year was the first in which the belt .was• open ■to marksmen from, the South Island' in addition to North Islanders, and . there wero competitors/from .all over, the Dominion., The North Island .was ,strone•ly represented from all'parts,"-whila Nelson, Christchurch, and Invercargill were also represented. Lieiit.-Col. Hughes, A;D.i welcomed the large number of visitors to Wanganui, -and wished them'success. He assured them that the meeting would be conducted- without fear or favour, and ho. hoped that tho"b.est men would -win,:whether, local or otherwise..
