The funerals were so numerous that they had to be continued after dark. At the inquest, tho coroner a9ked each witness whether the deceased had complained regarding the mine. Tho majority replied in the negative, but several recalled complaints mado about the presence of gas in tho pit. Oko, one of tho deceased, returned homo sick from tho effects of on four consecutive mornings before the explosion. Another miner had predicted a great disaster.
