" RUSH TO COBALT. Br Teleerap.h-Press Association-Copyrisht. ■ Ottawa, Decemb'cr 27. There is a boom-in mining at the Cobalt mining district, in New Ontario. Prospectors are rushing there daily. Australian and South African experts agree that the Cobalt is : likely to prove one of the world's greatest goldfields, Cobalt, at present, is one of the princip'Sl' :sil>;pr ..mining fields 0f... Canada. Great strides have.been made sinco silver production was commenced there only a few years ago. In 1004 there were iour mines producing; and tho total output was 20(i,8720z. from 158 tons of ore, tlie average silver value' being £141 65.; Returns from 29 shipping mines show that last year the output was approximately 25,497 tons, containing 19,29G,4300z. of silver. This quantity, valued at the average price of refined silver, represents a sum of nearly <£2,000,000, and represents an average of <£S0 per ton of ore. It has been predicted that if the output of the Cobalt district goes on increasing at tho..pre; sent rate, Canada will, in the immediate future, become one of the principal silvefproducing countries, of tho world. .
