A Maori named Jack Ashby pleaded guilty at the Helensville Court to-day of cruelly ill-treating a valuable young cattle dog by. picking it up, swinging it' round his head, and dashing it to.;'tha' ground, causing its legs to.be brokenrand its hip severely crushed. The dog'was " a valuable'one, £10 having been '■ refuses - for it by the same owner. Accused expressed regret, but said that the dog'lliad been worrying .his horses.
