Arnst, in commenting on the sculling raco on the Wnnganui River between Pearco and Webb, said he was much surprised at Pearce's win. He had pinned his faith on Webb whom ho had backed. Tho result,, he thought, must be accounted for.by one of two things, either Webb had lost his dash or Pcarce had greatly improved. Arrist added that he would give Pearco a chance for tho championship ; of the world within six months, provided they would find tho: stakes. He would prefer a time, about Easter for the race. Arnst disclaimed any serious intention of taking' up boxing.'
