TROUT AT ROTORUA.
THE EEW DEPOT.
. The Auckland "Herald" reports that tho depot opened by tho Government at Eotorna for the sale of surplus trout in tho lake is now in operation. Tho Department is netting trout and is also purchasing fish from the holders of licenses who havo no use for the whole of their catches. The price paid to the anglers is Id. per pound, and as the fish is sold by ,the Department at 4d. per pound there is some discontent amongst fishermen regarding . the price paid. Against this it is pointed out that hitherto fishermen have received nothing for spare fish. Complaint is also made 'against the netting of fish by the Government. SoniD license-holders claim that they aro entitled to have their money refunded, as they were not informed, when they took out their licenses, that tho Government intended to net tho lake. It is further urqed that the inc=h of tho net used should be larger, in order to allow under-sized fish to escape. "An indignation meeting, called i'ov the purpose of protesting against Ihc Government methods was called, but, according'to a local paper, only 20 or 30 peoplo attended, and no resolution was carried. Most of the fish received thus far at the Government depot are being sold in Eotorua. Small parcels have been sent to Auckland, but there haye been no regular consignments. Opinions as to the conrtihinn_af__tlie trout, varv...somewhat.... :.j
