It only remains for the Congregationalists of the Commonwealth to invite him, and we are'assured ho will, come.. He has arranged to visit India next year; and a cordial invitation from us to extend his voyage to Australia will be accepts cd. ' The well-known hymn, '"Abide With Me,"- has been translated into Esneranto, and was used for . the first time in church service during the Esperanto Congress in Washington in August. . ; The American Board in its Centennial Year Programriio gives the following statistics:—"To-day . there are .46 American societies organised, to carry the Gospel to tho people of . foreign lands. These societies have 5117 missionaries; employ 27,319 native preachers and workers; occupy 11,515 stations; enroll 672,103 church members, adding nearly 100,000 new members each year.; raise annually over 9,000,000 dollars, while nativo Christians contribute in addition 1,504,981 dollars. It is said that more-than 40,000 former cannibals on the • south coast of British New Guinea aro now enabled to read tho Gospels of Matthew and John through i the work of the British and Foreign Biblo Society. Tho Y.M.C.A. now has 1914 associations, with an active membership of over 188,000. It had 6000 Bible classes with an enrolment of 93,000 students. There were 20,000 conversions reported during the past year. The world's largest prayer meetings are found in Korea, the attendance sometimes reaching 120U and over. - Sir Robert Hart, for many years the 1 head of (lie Chinese' Customs, says he believes it will-require-the efforts of at least 40,000 thoroughly trained native workers to bring China under the control of Christianity. There are about 10,000 at work now under tho . various societies.
