FEILDING ITEMS.
There are some fine crops of oats' in the Apiti district this year, especially two largo paddocks of Tartarian, and one of' Gartons, which should yield a fine return. Tho district never looked so well at this time of the year. Tho Apiti Chamber of Cominerco merit congratulations .upon tho result of their efforts to have the road between Kimbolton and Apiti " improved, and the county councils have expended the moneys available in a manner worthy, of praise. What was once a dangerous road lias been made particularly safo., A splendid record has been mado by Cyril Buckman, one of the pupils at the Apiti School., For six years he has won the prize for full attendance, aud this year he has only been absent ono half day. There was a great gathering in the Public Hall at Rangiwabia this week, when presentations wore made to do honour to Mr. .and Mrs, Robert Craift, who have had charge of Mr. Beckett's property in tho district. ' For sixteen years Mr. Craig has been prominent .in almost every public matter, and was, at one time, a Wanganui and Manawatu representative footballer. He was captain of the RiQc Club, president and haudicapper for the Sports Club, president of the Horticultural Society, and was a ready assistant in all_ social functions. Mr. Craig is now going in for farming on his own account at Ohura, on the Wanganui
