Regarding the case heard at tho Magistrate's- Court here last Saturday in which allegations of cruelty and illtreatment of their adopted child, Eileen. Haynes, were made, against Mr. and Mrs. Henry Haynes, of New Brighton, a petition to the Minister for is being' signed by the* neighbours affirming that the child was not. beaten cruelly or ill-treated, that Mr. < 'and Mrs. Haynes have never been known to have unjustly punished the child, that tho child always looked healthy and wetl fed, and was clothed well and comfortably, an d t ' iat allegations of cruelty and ill-treatment are absolutely untrue.
