A father and son named Youoll, charged with counterfeit coining, as cabled on December 12, have been committed for trial. Each has been allowed bail in .£IOO. The assayer stated that the coins _ found, which were imitation sovereigns, a each contained a farthing's worth of gold. Within tho past few months spurious coins representing hundreds, of pounds have been circulated in New South Wales racecourses being selected principally for their exploitation as success was most likely to be attained there in the hurry and bustle of the betting ring. After lengthy inquiries, six detectives on December 10 surrounded a houseMn Campbell Street, North Sydney, The : house was searched for three hours, and then it was discovered .that..a complete coiner's plant had been found, together 1 with 33 spurious sovereigns, and a lot J of material used in their manufacture. e Some of the plant was dug out from behind grates, other was found in tho a scullery, while the sovereigns had been s ingeniously concealed in a blind used as I, a sunshade on a back balcony, g . ===== ■
