RAILWAY SERVANTS.
THE AMALGAMATED SOCIETY.. The monthly meeting of the Wellington branch, of the .A.S.R.S.; was held last evening. The general secretary was present, and also"Mr.' M'Laren, M.P., who . was! accompanied; by Mr. Hodge, Labour M.P., from the Old Country. Mr. Mack referred to the Kailway Amendment Bill, No. 2, which he remarked had such a narrow escape from becoming law. This measure, ho stated, would have deprived • railway men of many of tho privileges which they, now enjoy, and he also referred to the assistance that lie-had received from Mr. M'Laren, M.P. This he asked members not to forget. Mr. Hodge then addressed the members, and gave, an; interesting account of Labour legislation in the Old Country. He also gave an account of liow tho members of tho Labour party in tho House of Commons had acted with reference to monopolies. Mr. M'Laren also spoke. Ho referred to disabilities. that railway men aro under, and stated that it is not generally 'known that railway men have not .Vet been granted full civil and political rights. Ho advocated the removal of those disabilities.
