Wednesday cricket competition was concluded terday afternoon. Tramways scored their first- win. Having a lead of 31 in their first .innings,, they put up-164 for the loss of two wickets in their second venture. Hull played a sound game, but was lucky not to bo given out -l.b.w. when he was 28. Bramley was at tho wickets, for over two hours for his 51. At v o'clock Tramways ' closed thoir innings, and sent Vivian in. The latter were all disposed of. for 69, this being due to tho fine bowling of Rodgers and Bramley. Tramways thus won 134 runs. In the senior trial match the A team outclassed the B combination, .theii batting being far too good for B ! a bowling. Tolhurst played free'and stylish cricket for his 40, while Weybourne retired after making 38 by fine, hard hitting. Mulford also retired aftei making 26. As the New Zealand Cricket Association is appointing the umpires for the Auckland-Wellington Plunket Shield match, it has seen fit to ignore the .Umpires' . Associations throughout ■ the Dominion. The members of the Auckland Umpires' Association have deoided not to act in any Saturday match played under the direction of the Auckland Cricket Association. At the beginning of the present 1 season' it was thought that if tho. New Zealand Cricket Council would undertake the appointment of umpires ill the Plunket Shield matches it would do away with a difficulty which seemed to exist, but the local Umpires' Association never ' imagined that in making the appointment; the New Zealand Cricket Council would go outside tho members of the Auckland or Wellington Associations.
