WELLINGTON CLUB. A new swimmer of moro than usual promise made his appearance in the Wellington Club's IUO yards handicap, the heats, of which were decided at To Aro Baths last evening.. The new man, who is somewhat appropriately named "Stranger;".;comeS' from. Melbourne,: and the time of GS 2-osec., in which he easily won his heat, stamps him as one who will have to be watched by the best local sprinters. The results of the heats were:—Frst heat: G. P. Crawford, 18sec., 1; E. Levy, 6sec., 2; J. Stratford, Bscc., 3. Also started: 0. H. Bengo, 225ec.,; and P. Grey, 14sec. Time, 85 l-ssec. Second heat: C. Arthur, Gsec., 1; H. M. Mullins, 9sec., 2; S. Murrell, 4sec., 3. Also started: W. O'Meara, 18sec.; W. G. Morpeth, 18sec.; S. Brewster, 16sec.; K. D. Russell, 16sec.; W. M'Gregor, 13sec.; and W. Wilson, 4sec. Timo, 72sec. Third heat: C. Stranger, 6sec., 1;' R. Crowthe'r, 12sec„ 2; J. M'Lean, 13sec., S. Also started: G. Bruce, 14see.; Jl'Grath, 13sec.; L. Blundell, X3sec.;. L. Silver, Bsec.; L. Bridge, Bsec.;; and H. Little, Bsec. Timo, 6S 2-ssec. ' The final will be decided on Friday evening.
