.'.Tho newspapers infer that passengers with effects of any value would, do well to arrange for their insurance.
General' average is a proportional contribution levied on the owners of a ship, and theowners of her cargo; according to value, to indemnify the party who has incurred a loss, when part of the cargo, or vessel, has been, voluntarily sacrificed, or any loss, or expense incurred, for the preservation of . the rest. This risk is covered by all ordinary, insurance policies.
