SEAMEN'S WAGES.
"A" CONFERENCE FAILS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Rec. December 21, 0.25 a.m.) Melbourne, December 20. A deadlock has occurred in the negotiations between the represenatives of the Australasian Steam '.Ship Owners' Federation and the Seamen's Union regarding the new agreement." Sir James Mills, chairman of the conference, announced that it had dissolved without an agreement having been arrived at. The Seamen's Union delegates submitted proposals which the owners could not think of'accepting, but he was nbt at liberty to say what tho proposals were. - The employers suggested referring tho case to the Arbitration Court. Tho present agreement expires -on De-' cember 31.
