A SPECULATOR'S MILLIONS.
LEGAL BATTLE IN NEW YORK. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. Now York, December 16. A legal battle has, begun for the estate of "Lucky Baldwin," amounting to two millions sterling, which he accumulated on the turf and by mining. Beatrice Turnbull, a girl seventeen years of age, demands , a share on the ground that Baldwin was her father.
Marriage by contract is the point involved. Beatrice's mother declared that she was : married to Baldwin at Winchester, Massachusetts, in 1891. The defence, involving other relations, advances the plea that there was no marriage, Mrs. Turnbull having brought a seduction suit during /Baldwin's lifetime. As a sequel .to that suit, Mrs. TurnbuN's sister attempted to murder Baldwin. '
