(From Our Snecial OorresDondcnt.) • ■ Mastertdn, December 16. _ In the Magistrate's Court this morning a Chinese tradesman named Yu Chong was charged with a breach of the Shops and Offices Act in keeping his business premises open after six o'clock in the evening. Evidence was given to the effect that defendant had a shop in which he carried on the business of fruiterer and grocer. The grocery portion of the building was partitioned off. ..On the occasion when thq Inspector of Factories called; at nine o'clock in the evening, the grocery portion was open. ■ His Worship' imposed /a fine of 20s. and costs. . A case was heard in. the Magistrate's' Court, at -Masterton this morning ■'in' which Rosina Isabella Wilton sought to obtain sureties of the': peace from her husband, Herbert: Martin Wilton, on the ground that he had insulted her in' the street, and had sent her insulting post cards. It was stated in evidence: that the parties : had separated in July last; and that divorce proceedings were' pending. After hearing..a portion of the evidence'his Worship agreed to . the case being adjourned sine die, provided, that the defendant paid the costs of the proceedings and gave an undertaking not to molest his wife.
