, THE HONOLULU FLORAL PARADE. Hawaii-is making a strong bid for popularity as a tourist resort, according to a rccent announcement by the Hawaii Promotion Committee. The event of tho year is the annual floral parado at Honolulu, a great Hawaiian mid-winter fete. The 1311 parade is fixed for. February 22, and the. Promotion Committee is making great efforts to make the event, a record .ono-'froni: every point of view. The ultimate aim of the committee is to develop 'the Honolulu Carnival to the dimensions and importance, of a mid-Paoifie or. PanPacific celebration, and suggestions aro offered for the formation of an association representative of the Philippines, Japan, China, Java, Siam, Burmali, Ceylon, the Australian States, New Zealand, Fiji, and other South Sea islands, as well as Hawaii.
A preliminary step is the proposal for a Pan-Pacifio Travel' Congress to be held at Honolulu on Monday, February '0, 1911, with tho idea of increasing facilities for travel in tho Pacific, and incidentally. of affording delegates an opportunity of seeing tho' celebrated floral parade, and, through the medium of lantern slides, presenting something of interest concerning their respective countries. No ■ fewer than five large excursions to the next carnival ito announced from the United States, comprising well over 1000 tourists.
