ONSLOW BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Tho monthly meeting of tho Onsloiv Borough. Council was held last evening, the llayor (Mr. J. G. Harkncss) being in the chair. Others present were: Councillors B. Lynneberg, F. ICiernan, W. If. BoSvdeu, G. W. Darvall, A. Ferguson, D. A. Bannister, C. Aplin, E. S. Stafford, and W. R. Plimmer. It was decided to grant permission to Messrs. J. Newtown and Co. to lay- v.-ater pipes on a public street in the Kaiwarra Ward. The Thorndon Methodist Sunday School committee were given permission to hold a picnic on the catchment rcserva on January 22. Mr. J. W.. Newell was authorised to cut into the road bank near his property, Lot 58, Solway Estate, and also to remove spoil therefrom. Tt was decided to metal Lawrencc Street and the streets on' the Lochicl and Te ICarangn Estates, the metal to be taken as far as possible from Victoria .track. After, a lengthy discussion, the report of the Gas Committee on the amended proposals submitted by the Wellington Gas Company with respect to laying a gas main through tho Onslow Borough was referred back to the committee for further details. The committee in the meantime aro to confer with the Johnsonville Bovoiigh Council. A letter was received from the secretary of the Cashmere Estate Company giviivr permission to the council to impound stock found wandering on that estate.
