(By Telesraph.—Press Association.) ■ Wcstport, December 15. The Westport Trotting Club's races have been postponed till December 27 and 28, owing to the salo of liquor in booths being prohibited on December 20.

Amongst the best-looking yearlings at the Shipley (Victoria)'stud this season is one -tnat will" be of . special interest to New Zealanders, viz., a filly by Positauo, from that equine wonder Gladsome. The latter's deeds, both hero arid in Australia, are fresh in the memory ol' all, and it will be interesting to see how her filly acqpits herself. . The Cauliield Cup winner Aborigine' lias sailed for his new. home. in India. The ex-New Zealander was railed to Brisbane last week, and put on board the Craigvnr direct for Calcutta. The Sydney lad Stanley Wootton met with an accident at the Newbury. November meeting. He had the mount •on My Prince .in the November Nursery Handicap, but prior to taking the track the'colt; reared arid fell over in the paddock, his rider sustaining-a badly sprained ankle. It was at first feared that one of the small bones had been broken, but later examination showed that such was not tho case. The general entry for the summer meeting of the W.R.C. closes next Monday with the secretary, Mr. A. E. Whytc. Johnston. The chestnut mare Effort, which was recently returned from Australia on account of bleeding at the nose, is again a constant worker at Trentham, and, so far, has not shown any signs of bleeding again. It seems that the whole of the family from which Effort .springs' have been more or less troubled vrfth the same complaint. First of all came Wbetumnrama, the next was Effort, and then Excel. This trio have 'all' bled at different times, and the writer is reliably informed that .their dam, Endeavour, was troubled in tho Samo way. . , Jockey W. Ryan, who was slightly injured when Leahorn fell, with liim at Woodville, has now practically recovered, and returned" to the Endeavour Lodge stable at Trentham yesterday afternoon. Advices from Wuverley state that Allure, tho Handsome Jack—Stepfast filly that accompanied Crucinella to. Sydney, but n'hile there had to be operated on for throat troubles, and. was subsequently returned home, has fallen away considerably, as the, result of tho operation. ' It will bo some considerable time before she can again carry silk. ' This is indifferent luck tor her owner, Mr. W. F. M'Beth, and trainer, Mirt Gardiner, as the nlly was reported 'to be of high, class as n galloper. The fact that. she was sent as a maiden to Australia would confirm this view.

Gipsy Belle will not be raced at Palmerston North, but will accompany the .remaining members of the Porirua team to Auckland. . . . . Rauparaha, which has shown winning lorm at Carterton and Woodvillo, is much in demand locally tor the Manawatu Cup. . It is 'stated that A. Hall's marc may run well now that the. tracks have - received a good drenching, but sho is not proficient on hard,going. This was clearly proved ;by her poor showing at Woodville. - - There will be racing at .Plumpton to-, day and to-morrow, when : the" Christchurcli Racing Club will hold its summer ■meeting. Intending patrons of the Wairarapa 'meeting on January 2 and 3 will note with satisfaction that a special train will run to and from Featherston each day. This will enable Wellington people to return to their homes each evening. ■ The New Zealand pony" Doughboy has won another race in Melbourne. He was successful at Ascot on December 5, and on the same day ran second in another race.
