YORKSHIRE SOCIETY.

ANNUAL MEETING.

The. fifteenth annual meeting of tho Yorkshire Society of New Zealand .was lieH at Godber's last night, the lleV. J. H. Sykes. presiding. The committee, in its annual report, stated that the society was ill,a 60imd and improved financial condition. Though the committee had responded to every call made upon the society's benevolence, the small sum of £1 7s. had met all requirements. Ten guineas was raised and donated to the Mayoress's Children's Hospital. Fund. During tho past year sixteen'"hew members were elected. Tho meetings had been held regularly during the year, proving interesting and successful, especially the.Enos Bacon night, ana the open musical evenings. A suitable present was made to the late secretary, Mr. Stephen Taylor,, on the-ove of his departure for Adelaide. The society greatly regretted to have to record the death of one of its founders and trustee, the late Mr... Henry Flockton. Thanks were accorded to Mr. W. S. Bedford and to Mr. J. F. Atkins,, the New Zealand manager for the Sheffield firm of-Walker and Hall. Mr. Atkins had generously donated a handsomo trophy to be competed for at the quarterly card, tournament, which the committee proposed to arrange^ The balance-sheet showed a - balance oi .£63 7s. Id. in" the Post Office Savings Bank, and 7s. cash' iii hand.
