The annual prize-giving in . connection with the breaking up of the Palmerston High School took place ou Tuesday in the Municipal Hall. There was a large attendance of parents and friends, and the chairman o't the Board of Governors, Mr. W. H. Coliingwood, presided. Mr. D. Buick, M.P., presented the prizes, and Mr. it. The usual subjects have been taught, and that they are taught suceess- . fully may be seen from the results of the "various public examinations. Pupils have the option of taking a classical, commercial, or agricultural course. In the classical course, besides English, arithmetic; and science, they are taught Latin and French. In the commercial course, book-keeping and shorthand are important features, while.in the agricultural course, chemistry and botany, in addition to milk-testing and practical agriculture, form part of the curriculum. Next year in the new school, with a special room for agriculture,, we hope to extend tho scope of this work.
