ADELAIDE DRIVERS' STRIKE.
' DEPUTATION TO THE PEEMIEE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright, (Rec. December 13, 11 p.m.) Adelaide, December 13. Tho drivers' strike is having a. serious effect on business, and ilarge quantities of goods are held up on the wharves. The strikers' pickets are everywhere. A deputation from the Employers' Federation waited on the Premier and asked the Government to enforce the penalty clauses of tho Arbitration Act against th*Labourers' Union, and also to provide extra police to protect the men engaged to fill the strikers' places. The Premier (Mr. Verran) promised that the Government would take measures to seo that order was pfesem/ in. tho streets; but he was of opinion that any legal action to put the penalty clauses into force would have to be taken by .the employers themselves.
