PROPOSED AUSTRALASIAN . CHAMPIONSHIP. . (By. Telegraph-Press Association.) Christchurch, December 8. The second annual conference of the League of New Zealand Wheelmen was held fo-dny. Mr. D. E. Wood was chairman, and thero were twelve delegates' present. In moving tho adoption of tho annual report and balance-sheet, the chairman said that the year had been a satisfactory one, and tho League was in a flourishing condition. A new centre had been formed in Wellington, and cycling had been revived iii Auckland. The finances of tho League were satisfactory. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. '.The following officers for tho ensuing year were elected:—President, Mr. W. J. M. Hopkins; vice-presidonts, Messrs. JJ. E. Wood and J. E. Fitzgerald; council,- Messrs. J. Burgess, B. Harding, T. Smith, A.Lighlbody, R. H. Rankin, W. G. Waldcn, and W. J. Walter; secretary, Mr. O. Anderson; honorary auditor, Mr. A. W. Rankin. Tho letter was referred to tho council, with a recommendation for favourable consideration. Jlr. Ford moved that the council should consider tho question of coming to an arrangement with tho Australian Leagues with a view to an Australasian championship. He suggested that tho centres should hold provincial championships, winners of which should competo at. New Zealand championships, aiid winners at tho New Zealand championships should compete at the Australasian championship meetings. The motion was seconded by Mr. B. Harding, and carried.

Arrangements are now comnlcto and everything is in order for the big athletic gathering on tho Basin Reserve to-mor-row. Ihc local competitors have put tho mial touches on (heir preparation, and a largo crowd of enthusiasts were assembled on the reserve last evening' watching tho winaing-up "spins." TE AKO SAILING CLUE. At tho Boat Ilarbour last evening a general meeting of tho To Aro Sailing Club was held, Mr. C. J. Ward presiding. Ihere was a fair attendance of members. The meeting was called for the purpose of discussing the question of taking stops to provide a club shed: Mr. Ward, snoko on the necessity of having such a shed for tho general well-being of the club, and also for the stowing of sails and other gear, and for social purposes. It was decided to approach the secretary of the Harbour Board in connection with tho matter. It was also decided that each member who had tho use of rho shed should be required to pay a sum of 10s. per half year for rent. A committee of five was elected to manage mattors in connection with the shed. These wore Messrs. J. Barnard, C. J. Ward, M. Hammol, L. M'Gregor, and F. Cooke. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr. T. M. Wilford for attending at the formal opening of the club's season.'
