While Sir Joseph Ward was at the railway station to-day, during, the stay of the Auckland express, a large delegation of the local Liberal League waited upon him with an address, which congratulated him upon the successful conclusion of an arduous session, and expressed keen sympathy with him in the gross personal attacks made on him ™d on the country's credit in London. Sir Joseph Ward replied that he had had to suffer personal attacks for a long time past, but would continue to do what he concluded to be his duty to the country in spite of those who made them. He dwelt on the great importance of tho issues to come before the Imperial. Conference, and thanked the delegation (for whom Mr. J. SI. Johnston, chair, man of the league, was spokesman) for their expressions of confidence. Three cheers for Sir Joseph Ward and three for Lady Ward concluded the proceedings.
