COLLIERY EXPLOSION.
SERIOUS DAMAGE DONE: By Teleerarn—Press Aseociallon-Oopyrieht (Kec. December 8, 0.25 a.m.) Sydney December 7. A ;serious explosion has occurred at the Killingworth colliery, West Wallsond. It was caused by an accumulation of gas in the mine, '"which was not working. It is not thought that there has been any loss o£ life, although the poppet bead and the surface gear have been shattered. . Stops are being taken to seal down the •mine, as it is still burning. The damage is roughly estimated nt .£25,000.
