THE FERRY SERVICE.

CALL AT CLYDE QUAY SUGGESTED. Nov.- that thickly-populated Wellington East has a wharf at Clyde Quay, it has' been suggested that the Day's Bay ferry boats might make a call there to pick up passengers. The reasons given, arc fairly obvious: Residents of Welliugton South-who desirp to cross, the harbour have, how , to travel all the way to Customhouse Quay, and those of Wellington' East as far round as Eoseneath are' similarly handicapped. Indeed, the latter have to travel half round Lambton Harbour to pick up a steamer that passes .within a .few hundred v yards of Fitzgerald's Point. If an,arrangement could bo made by' the Wellington Steam Ferry Company to call at • the Clyde Quay Wharf on Saturdays. Sundays, and holidays, residents of Wellington South cojild leavo the tramcars at the eastern extremity of "Courtenay Place,' and walk the remaining 200 yards to the wharf, whereas they now have to pay .an. extra penny to connect at Customhouse Quay. The call at Clyde Quay should serve to popularise the Day's Bay trip with south and cast-enders.' ■
