The result of the prine cipal events on the sports programme. are as follow: — Letter-carriers' race, 220yds.—Ridyard, 25yds;, 1; Evehson, scr., 2. 0 Mail-room race, 220yds.—Andrews, r 9yds., 1; Anton, 15yds., 2. Time, 1 26see. j. > Post and Telegraph Challenge Cup, 440 yds, open to all branches of tho Department; first prize, silver cup and f gold. medal; second, silver cigarettcj ease. —Lawrence (letter-carriers' branch), s 20yds., 1; Wilson (secretary's branch), ■syds., 2. Time, 55 2-sscc. 0 Variety race, competitors all started e from scratch, run 25yds. and put on t boots, run 2oyds. to lady and put on - collar and tie, run 25yds. and put on • :1 coat, and return to starting-point.— : Won by Mr. Riddick and Miss B. Ross. : - This race caused considerable amuse- : - incnt. 1 There wero a number of children's i raccs, also a plentiful supply of toys b and lollies for the children.
